How we source

Updated

Every number on Rememilk comes from a named official page, with the country, the year and the date we last opened it. We are parents, not medical professionals, so we report what sources say and do not add rules of our own.

Which sources we use

Official pages with a name and a date, such as:

  • CDC (United States)
  • WHO
  • AAP, through HealthyChildren.org (United States)
  • Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) protocols
  • NHS (United Kingdom)

We do not use forum posts, brand blogs or other apps as the source of a number.

How a number appears on a page

The source is named in the sentence, next to the number. Each guide ends with a Sources list. Every entry gives the source, the country and year, and the date we last checked it. The tables in the guide show what each source says. Amounts are written in fl oz and ml. When we round ml, we say so.

When sources disagree

We put them side by side in the table, each with its own country and year. We do not pick one for you, and we do not fill gaps with numbers no source gives, such as ages a source does not mention.

How often we check again

Every 90 days we open each cited page again and update the "last checked" date. If a source changed, we change the page and its updated date.
